We would like to welcome you to the 53rd Annual Fall Production Sale. After 70 plus years and four generations of family raising registered Hereford cattle we still enjoy what we are doing. One of the biggest reasons is the manageability of the Hereford breed that allows the young, the old, and the occasionally crippled to enjoy the day’s work.
The hardy Hereford cattle have allowed us to get manual feeding down to forty or fifty days. From here they process their own feed. They graze native grass late into the fall, turned into standing corn with the first snows, and return closer to home to calve in April.
We feel it’s important to have the cattle survive and adapt to our environment rather than change the environment to suit the cattle. Because no one animal is deemed more important than another prebirth, the results can be measured with greater consistency and more accuracy. Mother Nature is still the boss.
Over the years we feel that the Hereford cattle are well adapted to our environment. The thickness of hide, deep haircoats, docile manner, and ability to convert roughage into pounds efficiently, has them excel during our cold Canadian winters. I don’t know if we truly appreciate what these natural Hereford characteristics do for our bottom line.
Take advantage of our numerous years of experience mating and selecting livestock when you consider your next replacement heifer, herd bull, or horse. Please come early to view the cattle and horses. Join us for lunch at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017. Sale starts at 1:00 pm at the ranch. 7 miles east of Irma on Highway 14 to Ranch sign. (RR 8-2). Or 11 miles west of Wainwright.
